Not to the secret that I had planned. Said secret did not work out. Said secret didn't fall through...Chad put an offer on a gorgeous townhouse but someone else offered more.
So we are moving across the hallway, into a brand new and updated apartment. We will have new rugs, appliances, a dishwasher, a new tub, new doors, etc. It's still pretty exciting. Move in date is scheduled for September first.
(However, we'll be away August 12-19th, 20th, 22nd, and the 26th-28th. I'm starting a wee bit early.)
With that said, I am looking forward to getting rid of all of the clutter that has accumulated. Chad came into the apartment with things from a house, so we have a lot of "stuff" that just has no place in a 900 square foot apartment. We only planned on staying here a year, so there are a lot of "housey" and "homey" things we didn't do, just based on spending money on a place we weren't interested in staying in.
However, with the idea that we'll be here yet another year, I am taking charge. I am putting things in boxes (even though its a three foot commute...) and I am going through each individual item. There will be many a trash bag filled. I am PURGING myself of the clutter.
A clean home is a happy home, and the truth is, with our apartment, it's been hard to consider it "homey" at all. I'm hoping through getting rid of (most) of our stuff we will have a better handle on the place and it will be easier to look at the apartment with a smile on my face.
What did you do to purge yourself of the "stuff?"
Did you have a hard time getting rid of anything?
So here I go, packing away, and I'm drinking diet coke tonight. I've been great this week.
I love purging! I love love love it!
ReplyDeleteI hate stuff. I really do.
I don't like Christmas/gift giving holidays becuase I get more cluttergifts. I realize some may say that sounds totally selfish and ungrateful, but I would much prefer to spend Christmas with family/friends eating, drinking (not necessarily alcohol) and just being together. Really. Stop giving out crap and make me some cookies or muffins. Save your money...I won't keep that unnecessary-space-consuming-gadget for long. Don't give me anything, just your time. That will do. Ok, I totally digress. But YAY for moving!
