Life as a Graduate.

This past Saturday, I completed my studies as an undergraduate and earned my bachelor's degree of arts in Psychology.

Look at me ! I did it !

I've definitely been neglecting blogging, but I'll give you the run down of what's going on right now.

1. I've slowly and steadily been thoroughly cleaning the apartment and getting into a routine of dusting, sweeping, mopping, etc. I've gone through all of my clothes and purged a ton. I've also gone shopping a couple of times, which was nice to do since I never have extra money for clothes. There is an adorable second hand shop in Newburyport where I was able to get a beautiful silk dress that I will hopefully wear to dinner tomorrow.

2. I've been working! House sitting pays well, plus I worked my "normal" job on top of it...AND was hired do muck stalls for the summer at a barn very close by 6 days a week, so I'm basically getting paid to work out in the morning, and it pays for Callie's rent. I've seen a lot of people I hadn't seen in years at this barn- it was lovely to see them all! I even gave my old farrier a big hug. He told me I was one of the best people he knew and he'd always trim my horse. Needless to say, I asked him to come back. I love his work. If you're looking for a farrier in Eastern Mass, please get in touch with me.

3. Speaking of Callie, she found her calling. I took her out with my friend Sue today to ride in the woods instead of the ring, and we did some schooling in the big field. I don't give her enough credit. I'm always babying her and thinking she can't canter normally anywhere but the riding ring. Well, she proved me silly when I asked her to canter and she was relaxed but forward, and very sure of her footing. Good mare! She loved jumping in the woods too, and got a little silly and excited after going over a little log but it was so nice to see her enthusiastic about something for a change! I'm hoping to do lots more of that with her. She's been just great.

4. I've been couponing. Kind of. I read "How to Shop for Free" and now I'm a little excited about getting my Fage greek yogurt for free. If that's all I learn how to do, I'm okay with it. :)

5. If you're ever a bridesmaid, don't do what I did and listen to the lady at David's Bridal who tells you your dress is too small and the size up runs small so you could just buy the next size. She's trying to get you to get alterations. This is my first time being a bridesmaid, so I'll just say "ooops" and move on, but I got my dress and it is literally two sizes too big. Luckily, Chad's grandmother is fantastic and is altering it for me tomorrow!

6. This blog will be getting a makeover. I'm not sure how to do pretty backgrounds and headers, but I'm learning, and this blog will feature a little more than just my will to be a great house keeper and recipe-learner. It'll be a little more about me, about my horse, & life in general. As I'm realizing a lot of my family from far away reads this blog I think it's a great way to keep in touch and keep others informed!

I was wondering how much does house sitting pay?

  2. It depends on what is entailed... I've done dogs, horses, just cats, just houses, etc. but on average, I make about $60 a day.
