I've never been an athelete. The closest I got was in high school when I was in a chorus line- a highly dance-driven musical.
Riding horses IS athletic. You use your legs, your core, your upper body, all at different times and balance is incredibly important. I'm good at riding, I think.
I'm good at walking. With the right shoes, Ill walk forever.
I'm ok at biking. My mountain bike is pretty sweet and I like riding- I can keep up a pretty good pace and my heartrate booms.
I am NOT good at running. My feet point inwards and that's how I run. Pigeon toed? Something toed. I need to learn to run correctly so I don't get tired super quickly like I do. Excuse? Maybe.
One thing I'm quite good at, as you may have seen, are the excuses that keep me from working out.
Some of my favorites:
I'm too busy.
I need to do laundry.
I haven't eaten yet (I actually thought this the other day. Hilarious!)
I need me time.
I should send in some resumes. I should clean.
Now, at the time of thinking them, all of these seemed legit enough to me. That's terrible!
Since today is Sunday, and I'm also a big fan of lists, I'm going to create this week's workout regimine.
Sunday:
Off. (I'm also not feeling well today, so this works out fine.)
Monday:
One hour stalls, plus 30 minutes horseback riding.
20 minutes strength/weights.
Tuesday:
1 hour walk with Chad, unless he'd rather kayak for a couple hours. I do know we'll be outside. Ill update this once I know.
Wednesday:
45 minutes horseback riding.
30 minutes bike riding after the barn.
15 minutes strength.
Thursday:
45 minutes riding.
Possibly a 30 minute lesson, for a total of an hour and fifteen minutes riding.
30 minute walk. (2miles.)
Friday:
45 minutes riding
20 minute walk
15 minutes strength
Saturday:
Dance the night away at a wedding!
In an effort to lower my BMI just a bit more, and to lose the last ten pounds or so, I'm hoping that eliminating the excuses, adding more variety to my workouts and scratching 100-200 calories from my daily intake...2 pounds a week would be a healthy goal.
Do you have a goal to meet, be it weight loss, muscle gain, a time to beat, etc? What keeps you motivated?
I'm so much like you!!! Except I don't have a horse or a bike, D'OH!!! I do love walking. As far as running, I don't know *how.* I haven't really truly exercised in years.
ReplyDeleteI also love lists!!! This week, I am making Jen and I a meal plan, a cleaning plan and an exercise/healthier living plan!!!
My DREAM weight is 125lbs for my 5'4" frame. Right now I'm 175lbs. I've never ever ever hit my goal weight and I was a very overweight child. So it's a challenge! But I'm excited for each pound I lose successfully and healthfully!
